We believe that the best outdoor adventures are not measured by speed or distance—they are measured by the memories created, the confidence gained, and the people you meet along the way.
Big Orange was founded with a simple mission:
Connecting people, inspiring exploration, and building community through outdoor recreation.
Whether you are stepping onto an electric propulsion board for the very first time, learning to fly on an eFoil, exploring the hidden coves of Jordan Lake, or simply watching an osprey circle above the water at sunset, every experience is designed around one idea:
Outdoor recreation should be safe, welcoming, educational, and unforgettable.
Why We Started Big Orange
Big Orange Water Sports wasn't created as a rental business.
It was built from years of exploration, research, and countless hours spent on lakes, rivers, and coastlines throughout North Carolina and beyond.
After experiencing the incredible freedom that electric-powered water sports provide, we realized something surprising:
Many people were curious, but very few knew where to begin.
Some thought eFoils looked too difficult.
Others believed electric propulsion boards required exceptional athletic ability.
Many simply didn't know these experiences even existed.
We wanted to change that.
Big Orange was created to remove those barriers and make modern water recreation approachable for everyone.

Every Big Orange experience starts with equipment familiarization, safety instruction, and clear communication before anyone enters the water.
Professional safety equipment is provided.
Weather and water conditions are evaluated before every session.
If conditions aren't suitable, we'll reschedule rather than compromise safety.
