Jordan Lake's Best Overall Recreation Area
If someone asked us to recommend just one location on Jordan Lake, Ebenezer Church Recreation Area would likely be our answer.
Few places around the lake combine beach access, fishing opportunities, picnic shelters, wildlife viewing, family recreation, and open-water access as successfully as Ebenezer.
As part of the Big Orange Jordan Lake Scout Series, Ebenezer has already hosted multiple equipment testing sessions and continues to be one of our favorite locations for both recreation and community activities.
For many visitors, this is the Jordan Lake experience they are looking for.
Scout Status Update

Why Ebenezer Stands Out
Some Jordan Lake launch points are designed for convenience.
Others are designed for exploration.
Ebenezer succeeds because it offers a little bit of everything.
Visitors can:

Very few locations around Jordan Lake provide such a complete recreation experience.
Location & Access
Located on the western side of Jordan Lake, Ebenezer Church Recreation Area is one of the most developed public recreation areas on the lake.
The facility includes:

The area is easy to access and well suited for families and larger groups.
Please note that entry fees apply during the operating season.
Launch Conditions
Launching from Ebenezer is generally straightforward.
The beach area provides convenient access for:
Paddle Boards
Electric Propulsion Boards
Kayaks
Canoes
Registered eFoils
The shoreline is relatively friendly compared to many boat-ramp-only locations around Jordan Lake.
This makes the area particularly attractive for beginners and family-oriented recreation.

The map above reflects observations gathered during multiple Big Orange testing sessions at Ebenezer Church Recreation Area.
The markings represent general navigation guidance based on current lake conditions and should be considered supplemental information rather than official navigation data.
Water levels, underwater obstacles, and shoreline conditions may change throughout the year.
🟢 Green Zones
Recommended launch and navigation areas.
During our testing sessions, these routes provided sufficient depth for equipment using a 60 cm (24-inch) mast and offered the most comfortable access to deeper water.
These areas currently represent our preferred routes for:

Electric Propulsion Boards
eFoils
General Exploration
🟡 Yellow Zone
Shallow Sandbar Area.
This section contains a noticeable sandbar extending away from shore.
The area is generally manageable for paddle boards and other shallow-draft equipment, but riders should reduce speed and remain aware of changing depth.
🔴 Red Zones
Shallow Mud and Rock Areas.
During our scouting visits, these locations appeared to contain shallow water, mud flats, rocks, and submerged obstacles extending approximately 20–50 feet from shore.
These areas require additional caution and may not be suitable for:
eFoils
Hydrofoil systems
Electric propulsion systems
Deep fins
We recommend avoiding these areas during launch and recovery whenever possible.
Water Conditions
Jordan Lake has experienced unusually low water levels during recent drought conditions.
As a result, some areas that normally provide greater depth are currently shallower than expected.
While traditional paddle boards and kayaks remain suitable for much of the area, riders using hydrofoils or propulsion systems should pay close attention to water depth before launching.
During our testing sessions, water quality and riding conditions were generally favorable.
The area offers sufficient open water for exploration while remaining protected enough for beginner and intermediate riders.
Future rainfall and changing lake levels may significantly alter these observations.
The Sunset Experience
This is where Ebenezer truly distinguishes itself.
If Vista Point belongs to the early birds and morning explorers, Ebenezer belongs to the laid-back families.
As afternoon transitions into evening, the atmosphere changes.
Families gather near the beach.
Anglers cast lines from shore.
Children play along the shoreline.
Friends gather under picnic shelters.
Birds move across the lake.
The sun slowly drops toward the western horizon.
The result is one of the most enjoyable sunset experiences we have encountered during the Jordan Lake Scout Series.
This is Jordan Lake at its most relaxed.
Fishing & Wildlife
Fishing is a major attraction at Ebenezer.
Visitors regularly fish from shore and near launch areas.
Bird activity is also common throughout the recreation area.
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate:
Water birds

Sunset photography opportunities
Wildlife viewing often improves during early morning and evening hours.

Big Orange Notes
After multiple visits, Ebenezer remains our strongest recommendation for first-time visitors.
It may not offer the free access of Farrington Point.
It may not provide the morning atmosphere of Vista Point.
But it delivers the most complete Jordan Lake experience.
When people ask where they should start exploring Jordan Lake, this is where we send them.

For first-time visitors, it remains our top recommendation.
For families, it remains our favorite destination.
