These words describe the journey of learning to ride an electric hydrofoil — and the spirit of our club.

Fall

Every rider falls.

The first time you step onto an eFoil board, balance feels unfamiliar and the water usually wins.

That’s perfectly normal.

At Big Orange, falling is simply part of learning. Our calm-water riding locations allow beginners to try, laugh, and try again safely.

Every confident rider you see today once started the same way — standing in the water beside their board.

Rise

With a little practice, things begin to change.

Your balance improves. Your body learns how the board moves. And slowly, the board begins to lift.

When the foil engages and the board rises above the water, the ride suddenly becomes smooth and quiet.

For many riders, this is the moment everything clicks.

Confidence rises along with the board.

Once you begin foiling, a new feeling appears.

The board glides silently above the water. There is almost no wake and very little noise.

Just smooth motion and open space.

Foiling isn’t about speed or competition.

It’s about freedom, balance, and the joy of moving across the water.

Learning Safely at Big Orange

Safety and confidence always come first.

To help beginners get comfortable on the water, we guide riders through simple steps that build balance and control.

These may include:

• land balance exercises• electric propulsion board riding• turning practice in different standing positions

With this structured approach, most riders quickly gain confidence and enjoy a smooth first experience.

Our First Ride Experience sessions are designed specifically for beginners, with calm water and patient guidance.
